Who for?

Our Balance Bike course is designed specifically for children aged 2.5-4 years old who want to take their first step towards learning how to ride a bike.

Course description

The course (4 x 45min sessions) introduces children to a balance bike and develops their basic movement patterns, dynamic balance and gross motor skills through a range of fun activities and games.

The aim of the course is to build the childs confidence to glide on a balance bike with their feet off the floor.

The course teaches riders how to:

  • Mount & dismount the bike
  • Manoeuvre the bike
  • Control the bike
  • Stop the bike

Equipment

If you child has their own balance bike and/or helmet which they would like to use then feel free to bring them along. Children should be able to sit on the seat of their bike and put both feet flat on the ground.

Balance bikes and helmets can be borrowed if you don’t have your own. Please indicate when booking if you need to borrow any equipment.

Cost

£45 per child (plus a small booking fee)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

To help you understand the course fully we have compiled the below answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQs).

If you child has their own balance bike and/or helmet which they would like to use then feel free to bring them along. Children should be able to sit on the seat of their bike and put both feet flat on the ground.

Balance bikes and helmets can be borrowed if you don’t have your own. Please indicate when booking if you need to borrow any equipment.

Children should wear comfortable clothing for the course. It should be suitable for the indoor/outdoor conditions on the day. A long sleeve top and soft trousers (e.g. jogging bottoms) are recommended for comfort. Skirts/dresses are not recommended.

Yes, we require all participants to wear a suitable bike helmet at all times during the courses. If you dont already have your own then we can lend you one. Please indicate when booking if you need to borrow any equipment.

Full refunds are available up to 7 days prior to the start of the course. Alternatively your place can be transferred to a future course.

If a session(s) has to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or instructor illness then an additional session will be added to the end of the course (date to be specified by Little Riders).
