Who for?

Our Learn to Ride course is designed specifically for children aged 4-10 years old who would like to learn how to ride a bike with pedals independently.

It is recommended that 4 year olds attend our Balance Bike course prior to attending this course.

Course description

The course (4 x 1hr sessions) will build a child’s confidence whilst developing their gross motor skills and dynamic balance. The aim of this course is to give the child all of the skills required to ride a bike with pedals independently.

The course teaches children how to:

  • Mount/dismount the bike
  • Fit a helmet
  • Balance
  • Steer
  • Brake
  • Pedal

All sessions are held outdoors in a traffic free area. Instructors encourage parents to observe all sessions so they can understand the skills being taught and help their child practice outside of the sessions.

Equipment

It is best if a child learns to ride on their own bike so they can practice in between sessions and so they become familiar on the bike that they are going to ride once the course has ended. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section at the bottom of the page for further information about what types of bikes are suitable.

We ask that children wear a cycle helmet at all times during our courses/sessions. If you dont have your own bikes or helmet then dont panic as we can lend you both. Please indicate when booking if you need to borrow any equipment.

Cost

£40 per child (plus a small booking fee).
